Sex & Nudity

Mild
236 of 516 found this mild
A young woman wearing slightly revealing clothing flirts with a young man in a vehicle. It is implied that they will kiss and that other young couples go to this place to kiss or perform sexual acts. They do not kiss.
No male nudity, but a quick flash of a magazine cover with nudity easily missed.
There are Playboy magazines in one scene with a naked woman on one of the covers. This is hard to make out and incredibly brief. Most people won't notice it at all, you will have to pause the movie to see it.

Violence & Gore

Moderate
164 of 299 found this moderate
The violence isn't very graphic but it is very disturbing and it is even more disturbing because it actually happened.
The kills shown in this movie are more disturbing than grotesque or gory. The suffering of the victims is very detailed and the scenes are very helpless and scary.
Unlike Se7en, this movie mostly shows the violence in the act and it is disturbing. Despite this there are only three instances of violence and the rest of it is implied through dialogue.
Two people are murdered in a car. Not graphic.
Zodiac's threatening letters are shown on-screen and talked about. He talks about his murders and threatens more. With one he includes a bloody piece of a vicitm's shirt.
Violence is exclusive to the first half of the movie and it's very infrequent. It is also disturbing and intense.
Unlike another David Fincher serial killer film, Se7en, this movie is not graphic in the slightest.
Two of the three violent scenes are extremely shocking and horrifying.
Strong violence.
The kills are pretty disturbing, but never too bloody.

Young men are shown drinking alcohol and driving.
Almost every character is shown drinking or smoking cigarettes in several several scenes.
A man takes prescription drugs in a couple of scenes.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

Severe
179 of 280 found this severe
There is some audio of Zodiac calling the police to take credit for his crimes and his voice sounds a bit creepy.
Some intense, disturbing and violent scenes.
Many scenes including strong, slightly disturbing threat.
In one scene a character visits a suspect's house. This scene is very suspenseful and tense.
Overall feel of the film is very scary, as it revolves around a serial killer
Police officers and reporters discuss the deaths in some detail.
We hear that someone jumped out of a moving car for their own protection (nothing too bad).
