I had the pleasure of seeing a screening of "Get the Hell Out of Heaven" at the Back East Picture Show, a small film festival in Hoboken, NJ. Even though it has the rough feel of a student film (which apparently it is), the film is an approx 20 minute short film filled with both comedy and irony. The story begins with a good-guy cop chasing a bad guy up a building, with both of them falling to their death at the end of the first scene. Then due to a mix-up caused by a distracted grim reaper, the bad guy ends up in heaven and the good guy ends up in hell. From the wise-cracking bad guy (of course I'm supposed to be in heaven) to the soul-searching cop (why am I in hell?), the short continues as a comedy with some interesting surprises at the end. As an added bonus we can see a younger Jeff Branson, now of "All My Children" fame, in a supporting role as the drugged-out character Styx.
