brothers, dogs and god

Brothers, Dogs and god - a dangerously funny movie - shows the darker side of the country folk living in Central Texas - and how dysfunctional families (with dogs)can be...We all know people like this. The camera work is excellent -varied and exciting. The truck explosion is great. Hickey has captured (like he does in all his films) the cutting edge of not just the typical "Jerry Springer" characters, but being able to view them in daily life. It's kind of like a nightmare that you want to stay in, and sometimes you have to check yourself for laughing and/or crying at a sick joke. Reminiscent of Pulp Fiction. But lots of exterior shots. Check it out.

Brothers, Dogs, and God is a wonderful piece of work from David Hickey. There are some brilliant shots in this film. Watch for the clever use of camera angles. The scenes are well written to help develop the characters and plot. Hickey uses the camera like a great artist uses a paintbrush. The party scene showing the further descent of Velvin Graham is especially memorable. Dale Dudley does a great job portraying Velvin on the search for his final moments. You'd think it would be easy to do yourself in, but watch the trouble Velvin runs into as he tries. Hickey is successful at bringing some disturbed and crazy(yet believable) characters to life in this insane journey. You should get this movie and add it to your collection of great independent films.
