great show
randmrpr77771 August 2006
This is a great TV show that starred two great entertainers, The Wilburn Brothers, Teddy and Doyle. They were wonderful people, always willing to help others. We are very fortunate to be able to see these shows again on RFDTV. You will see many stars in the making. You will be entertained. Their show was one of the longest running and one of the first to be in color.

This is a show for the whole family to enjoy as all of their shows were. It is very laid back with no pretense. Many of the people on this show, like Teddy, Doyle, Leslie and Lester Wilburn, are no long with us, and that is sad. The Great Don Helms is still living. If you will watch this show and any other shows of their, you will enjoy it.

The Wilburn Brothers Show
maggdoodle25 May 2006
One of the best of the early syndicated country music shows. The Wilburn Brothers were not only talented singers/musicians but they had a keen eye for new or up and coming talent. The show is presently re-running on RFD-TV (check your local listings). The discovered Loretta Lynn, Patty Loveless, Sonny James, The Osbornes (bluegrass legends) and featured everybody from George Jones and Tammy Wynette to a young Barbara Mandrell. If you like country music -this is one worth checking out! This show was one of the very first syndicated country music shows recorded/aired in color. It lasted 10 years and still holds up today. This is being aired as part of Willie Nelson's Act IV music library. Excellent - makes you want to seek out their albums and cd's!

Wilburn Brothers Show

If you like Classic Country Music you will probably like this show, The Wilburn Brothers had great harmony and were a lot of fun on this show,,,They didn't take it too serious,,,It is similar to the Buck Owens Ranch Show or Porter Wagoner Show,,,No Script just music and whatever Happened happens,,,If you like Loretta Lynn she is on a lot of the episodes,,,Jack Green,Web Peirce,Jeannie Seally, just about everyone from 1966 to 1974 who was a big star visited their show,,But don't expect a Script....I think any viewer that watches this show must first like Old School Country Music firstly and like a show that was taped Live with no do overs just whatever came out you get to see it unlike todays shows..All fixed up,,This is the real deal,,Real Country Music

Wilburn Brothers Show
opryman6510 February 2006
This program was the very best in country music entertainment by two folks - Teddy and Doyle Wilburn - who knew how to entertain. Among many other things, this program was responsible for launching the career of Loretta Lynn. She was a regular on the show for it's entire run, and joined the great comedian and banjoist, Harold Morrison (who played banjo on some of Loretta's hits, of which "Blue Kentucky Girl" was one). The great Don Helms was a regular steel player for most of the years that this show was on television, and Hal Rugg played on the rest of the programs when Don was not there. The band also included such greats as Buddy Spicher on fiddle and brothers Lester and Leslie Wilburn who played guitar and bass. I do not recognize the drummer. You may still see these great shows (as of Feb 2006) on the RFD TV channel on satellite. Many great performers from the world of country music have been guests on this show, such as Roy Acuff, Bashful Brother Oswald, Karen Wheeler, Dottie West, Sammi Smith, Dave Dudley, Del Reeves, and many others too numerous to mention. I give it five stars.

Excellent classic country music
Tetrachord214 September 2007
I highly recommend this 1960s country music program. No ,its not as bad as one IMDb user said although on a few of the programs during its eleven year run , some of singers were awful and very lacking in talent. But if you know much history of country music, you'll know those singers never made it to the big time anyway. Many of the best known C&W entertainers did make appearances and you can see them on this show when they were much younger. Another good thing I like about The Wilburn Brothers Show is that the camera man often put his camera directly on the hands of one of the worlds best ever pedal steel guitar players, Curly Chalker, 1931-1998. If you like classic country music from the 60s and early 70s then you would enjoy the reruns of this show. If you do not like country music, you wouldn't get much out of it and your comments would naturally be negative about this show which was good enough to last eleven years on television and is now in rerun on RFDTV.

Country and Western NOT Country Rock
popejohnscul1130 August 2006
This show should really be a 4 or 5 but I gave it a 7 to counter the dolt who gave it a 1. If you enjoy country artists from the late 60's and early 70's than you will love this show. If you only started to listen to country music in the last few years, you will not like this show. Face it, the country music of today is not country, it's countrified rock. WAYLON, WILLIE, CHARLIE PRIDE, LORETTA LYNN, JACK GREEN, HANK SNOW, TOM T. HALL...NOW THAT'S COUNTRY And that is what you'll see on this show. The budgets were small and the production was from the 60's and early 70's so you'll see a lot of "fly by the seat of the pants" production BUT the music was COUNRTY with a little WESTERN once in a while so I look past their flaws and just enjoy the show.
