One of the best

This is one of the best I've seen on LMN. I credit the entire cast, director, writer for the excellent work. John Riedinger and Amy Colon were perfectly matched. As good friends who decide to have a baby knowing that he is dying was quite remarkable. Never once did you not believe them. Again, this goes to their acting, the directing and the dialogue given to them. In fact the entire cast seemed devoted to telling this story.

It is so simply told. Compelling and often heartbreaking to watch. You never felt the actors feeling sorry for themselves. They played the relationships and situation honestly. I can't praise this enough. If you ever get the chance to view this, watch it. You'll be glad you did. Why can't LMN show more of this caliber film making and not these dumb bimbo murderer ones. Watching another Erika Eleniak flick as a Muriel Hemingway wannabe with eyebrows growing together is enough to make you stop watching LMN. But don't give up. There are gems hidden away amongst their many stupid witch movies.

Don't confuse compassion with selfishness

Warning: Spoilers
What kind of world do the characters in this movie live in?! I'm sorry, but cancer or no cancer, it's pretty selfish to ask someone to have your baby as a "legacy" while you're dying. Especially when these two have been broken up for over 10 years. The mere fact that they have to get rip-roaring drunk to even "do the deed" is what is wrong with this scenario just for starters. And it also makes no sense that this successful "career woman" would compromise future promotions by having a baby. Women work too hard for too long to get ahead in this world. Another thing I noticed is that the woman playfully slaps and pushes the guy around a lot. That shows a lack of respect she has for him and even borders on domestic violence. Men get arrested for this kind of thing all the time while this woman gets a pass.

It's not compassionate to take someone up on an offer to have their child. It is pure selfishness knowing that she will have to take full responsibility for this child for the next 18 years of his life.

When they told his parents of the idea at a family dinner I would have done what the one guy at the table did-walk out in disgust. Good for him-he is the only one who had it right. And what of the dying man's father just blowing it off? What a wimp! I don't know anyone's dad who would do that. All the fathers I know would sit down and give their kids a good lecture. And rightly so.

Time well spent!

This movie delivers great performances by EVERY ACTOR in it. Never a dull moment, it grabs you in the beginning and won't let you go. I found myself captivated by Sean very early on and Kristi made me fall in love with her..after my initial thought that she was being a bit selfish. I watched it with my 9 year old (who didn't find the love scenes disgusting, as they were tastefully done). The whole plot hits very close to home for us though, and I'll leave it at that. Even if Cancer hasn't impacted your life, this movie will give you a lot to think about, touch your heart, and make you thankful for the time you have here. I hope you enjoy it...thanks for reading.
