Violence & Gore

  • In the first episode the main character dies by a metro hitting him. We see his head bloodily flying.
  • Fights with the aliens often involve blood and gore from both sides, and sometimes dismemberment or decapitation.
  • A character's lower back melts, because an alien threw some kind of strong acid. Her insides (intestines and all) melt away shortly. Heads explode due to bombs being set inside the players heads.
  • Some players graphically shoot an alien boy's upper arms and legs off. Afterwards, they shoot its head, which explodes.
  • A big alien guy chops people half with his razor sharp claws, and goes on a rampage, because the culprits violently murdered his child.
  • An alien scream causes a villain's ear-drums and eyes to pop. Blood spurts out of the respective areas.
  • A protagonist has his upper arm cut off and is pummeled with some blood before he cuts the attacking villain's limbs off.

Profanity

  • Some middle fingers are shown.
  • Aggressive use of the word 'cunt'.
  • Occasional uses of 'fuck' and 'shit' in the subtitles. The dub contains more frequent and varied profanity.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Occasional smoking, and a couple brief instances of drinking. No drug use.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Like Berserk and Elfen Lied, this series is so violent that Adult Swim refused to air it.
  • Rated TV-MA for scenes of strong graphic bloody violence throughout, disturbing images, strong sexual content, graphic nudity and for language.
  • Some instances of gory and/or rather sadistic violence.
  • The aliens' appearances can be grotesque.
  • The series is more unpleasant than the original manga as the filler arc was meant to be edgier and tries to shove the message "humanity is flawed" constantly.
