A beautiful story, told in a beautifully colored film. While this picture contains no thrills, it excites pity for the unfortunate girl whose face is ugly and who is abused because it is. Her noble character is revealed when she allows the lotion to be applied to the eyes of her blind lover, believing all the while that he will turn from her because she is ugly. But instead she is transformed into a beautiful maiden. Such touching stories, so beautifully wrought out, exert a beneficial influence upon everyone fortunate enough to see the pictures. Producers can't bring out too many stories of this type. - The Moving Picture World, December 25, 1909
