Leningrad (2009)

Goofs

Leningrad

Edit

Factual errors

During a briefing of Hitler by the German generals they show a map that list the city as St. Petersburg instead of Lenningrad.
At 18 mins. The movie shows German Luftwaffe Me109/Bf109 Fighter Planes bombing Leningrad. Single seat BF109 and Me109 Fighter planes did not carry bombs. The actual planes used in the siege of Lenningrad were mainly Junkers Ju 88A bombers.
Beginning of the film shows German Waffen-SS running into Soviet Red Army gun fire. Then Soviet Red Army entrenched leaves the cover of their position and begins charging at the Germans. This makes no sense as why would the Russians leave the cover of their trenches to be out in the open, exposed to German gunfire. They could easily keep firing from their position at the Germans who had no cover. Also German Soldiers would never purposely charge a position in this fashion under that heavy of fire, with no cover, and especially without the assistance of Panzers (tanks) or heavily Armored Vehicles.

Anachronisms

(at around 6 mins) The Wehrmacht did not have any tank with a muzzle brake in 1941.
The Red Army got the American Willys MB one year later in 1942.
