Goofs

The Kingdom

Edit

Continuity

In the scene where the father with the missing fingers, pulls his weapon and is shot several times in the chest, but when the little girl runs over to him and lays in his arms, the bullet holes are gone and so is the blood.
After the Saudi commandos raid the bomb makers hideout and kill them all, Damon Schmidt comes in and starts talking with the FBI agents. He then goes over to the wall and picks up one of the assault rifles against the wall by the barrel. Fleury tells him to put it back and he is now holding the rifle by the grip.
When Robert Grace is meeting alone with Gideon Young, he has his glasses on at the start of the conversation. After Young removes his glasses, we see that Grace has also removed his, even though we have not seen him do it. Yet, when the camera shows the back of Grace's head, we can still see the side of the frame of his glasses.
The terrorist who blows up himself has a hat that changes position between shots. It can be observed by the emblem moving on the hat.
After the ambush on the freeway, when the Mercedes sedan is being chased by the FBI in the Range Rover, the Mercedes rounds a corner and bullet holes can be seen on the left hand side of the car, from the front door to the back of the rear door. In the next scene, when the car is abandoned, the bullet holes are of a much larger caliber and there are only a few holes in the rear door.

Factual errors

In the intro sequence, the film says that oil was discovered in 1933 by accident and that the ARAMCO was founded as the first union between Saudi Arabia and the United States in 1938. In reality, the dates are switched. The company was founded by Chevron in 1933 and the same company later discovered oil in 1938.
General Abdulmalik wears insignia of a Brigadier General (Ameed) yet is referred to as a Major General (Luwa) in Arabic throughout the movie.
Sergeant Haytham is seen using an M4A1 Carbine during the final shootout. His rifle is fitted with a rail for optics, but there actually is no rear sight, making it impossible to aim the rifle.
During the first FBI briefing that occurs immediately after the attack, Grant's character states the bomb looks like a plane dropped a 500 pounder. However a 500 pounder is specifically used to engage small targets such as cars or trucks and would never leave a massive effect as observed in the movie.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

Fleury discusses the World Trade Center bombing in 1993 and then mentions that nine years later, another attack took place there. The other attack on the building was in 2001, which makes eight years instead of nine as he explained.

The attack in 1993 occurred in February and the attack in 2001 occurred in September. 8 years and 7 months is quite close to 9 years.

Miscellaneous

After shooting Abu Manza, he has blood on the front of his shirt. When the camera pans off him and then pans back to him, the blood is gone.

Errors in geography

Saguaro cacti visible in the scenes shot in Arizona (freeway attack scenes).
As the FBI team's airplane is touching down, the caption at the bottom of the screen informs the viewer that the location is in Saudi Arabia. However, as the plane is just about to land, a bridge is visible in the distance. This bridge is in fact the Woodrow Wilson bridge seen from National Airport in D.C. The scene was shot during the construction of the new bridge. Both the old and new bridges can be seen.
In some scenes Abu Dhabi taxi cabs are visible in the background.

Plot holes

When the FBI team is touring the large explosion site, Colonel Faris Al Ghazi says this explosion happened one hour into the rescue of the earlier attack and smaller explosion. However, it was daylight when the softball game was playing and night time when the large explosion occurred.

Character error

When Fleury displays his FBI badge to Aaron Jackson (Tim McGraw) it is upside down.
