Great concept but disappointing
cherapin13 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Great concept, well-directed and -acted. Had me until the gutless ending when the director kills off one of the leads in a random traffic accident that has nothing to do with the plot, probably because Kimberly K. Wilson, the writer and director, was either too stupid or lazy to allow the situation to play out as it would probably happen in life -- disappointing. Sure, the director foretold the writers' cowardly ending during the credits by having Annie cleaning Maggie's headstone, but the contrived ending still had no more to do with the plot than a typical *deux ex machina* at the end of an early Greek play by Euripides or an insipid teen movie.

sucks toes
chinchillin5114 August 2006
Warning: Spoilers
This movie sucked toes. Don't rent it, don't buy it, don't even look at it. The director should go put it in a pipe and smoke it. First of all, a platypus could have done better with the camera. Second, since when does sleeping with a woman automatically merit a haircut? Third, the sex scenes made me want to be straight. Ten lines is really long. I can't even describe to you how incredibly painful this movie was to watch. I think they spent a maximum of $50 on the entire production. They could have spared a few more dollars to clean Maggie's grungy fingernails. It seemed like they picked random dykes off the street and asked them to star in a low-budget excuse for a film. And finally, the friggin credits were done in Comic Sans, which just makes me want to kill myself.

Bad acting, bad writing, bad camera work
princess3233210 July 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I found it hard at first to get through the bad lighting and home-movie like feel of this, but kept in mind that it was a low budget film. I still gave it a try and found myself squirming at the acting and the writing. Although the actress playing Maggie seemed to be able to do something with her character beyond what had been written and showed some acting ability, I cannot say the same of her counterpart who played Annie. Most of the performances in the film seemed forced and awkward, and showed that the actors were unable to stretch beyond the often cheesy writing. The plot seemed to be missing a few holes here and there in addition to that, and the situations that the director would jump in and out of did not go smoothly (not to be confused with transitions). Furthermore, the character of the husband was completely unbelievable. The camera work was shotty at best and felt like the camera man was asleep at the wheel and decided to wake up halfway during a scene and try to center a shot. Many times the scenes turned out overexposed with too much light. The sound was also lacking in many ways. I can, however, praise the story for being about a woman who falls in love with another woman but does not make the assumption that she is now a lesbian. And the slight twist at the end seemed to add a slight bit of surprise to an otherwise predictable and often times unbelievable story.

don't waste your time.
princessbride2-110 April 2007
this movie was a piece of crap. the editing was terrible (ie the movie was unnecessarily long) but the acting and writing were even worse. the end was cliché and when the director wanted me to cry (like the characters seemed to always be) instead i found myself laughing at the horrible acting and complete absurdity of the entire scenario. this movie was screaming low budget student film in every scene. i like a good Dyke movie now and again too. but this movie ended up to actually be neither good nor a Dyke movie. so if that's what you're looking for best to just skip it. how anyone could watch this and enjoy it other than in a comical sense is beyond me. although if you're reading this IMDb page the changes are you've seen the movie and know exactly what i'm talking about, in which case i'm sorry.

had hopes but they were flushed
ljlucky717 March 2007
Warning: Spoilers
OK, so i had hopes for this movie. but no. it sucked. sooo unbelievable. good music. horrible acting, horrible clothes for 2002 - it looked like it was made in the 1980's. i did not like annie. it was so dumb. it sort of reminded me of a failed attempt of a movie such as Imagine Me and You where they actually were able to pull of the similar type plot. the hospital scene did NOT look like a hospital. and that's the least of my complaints. the husband is willing to share her with a woman?!!! that's total BS! yeah right.i mean just totally awful. a husband is not like that. unless he was maybe getting some side action too. the only thing that could have happened was for maggie to die. and please the little kid named maggie? oh like that wasn't predictable. i was it coming as we saw her from a distance. sure, she's a cute little kid, but i would never let my partner name our kid after an ex. seriously?

Not bad for an indie film
plotrow27 March 2010
This movie, while predictable and even overly-sappy at times, is nowhere near as bad as some of the other reviewers would lead you to believe.

Keep in mind that this is an indie film, and as such, lacks any of that overly-produced, Hollywood sterility, the exact thing that separates "indie" from "commercial" movies in the first place.

Granted, the camera work is a bit amateurish in places, the movie could have stood to have been trimmed in length just a tad, and more than a few scenes will lead you to easily guess what is going to happen next. But again, that is the very thing that gives an indie film much of its charm, in my opinion.

The acting was actually pretty good; about the only characters that seemed a bit flat were Maggie's lesbian friends. But, I think that had more to do with flaws in the script, rather than any lack of acting ability on the part of the actors.

Give this a watch and enjoy it for what it is: A genuinely sweet and rather touching love story.

Awful
RichBuck4 July 2010
This movie is full of awful. Terrible in so many ways. First of all the acting is non existent, well it exists but it is terrible by everyone in it, of course the actors haven't too much to say with such a horrible script to work with. The camera work is some of the worst I have ever seen - truly atrocious. I realize this movie had a low budget but whatever money was spent on this thing was money completely wasted.

The people who put up the money would have been better off to spend their money on something more worthwhile than to create this completely unedifying, unentertaining, amateurish excuse for a film. Why does anyone bother to take the time to produce such crap. What good does a film like this do? It's not about the lesbian thing - it's just about bad films in general. Surely they must know at the time that what they are doing is really an insult to good film-making.

touching and good despite technical problems
Doke4 March 2005
I had a mixed opinion of this film. Most of the technical aspects: lighting, camera work, sound, sound mixing, etc looked both amateurish and low budget. For example, I noticed several shots which started out misframed, and they moved the camera to recenter the action, instead of re-shooting the scene. On the other hand, most of the artistic elements: acting, dialog, and soundtrack music selection were excellent. The script is somewhere in the middle. It's riddled with clichés, predictable, and unsubtle, but it's believable and has a wonderful tenderness. The characters are reminiscent of several of my women friends. Overall, the movie moved me, and kept me thinking for hours after watching it.

An Underestimated Film
chanlj5 October 2006
OK This is a film for the lesbian community. Other viewers will not be too thrilled. Also the film is politically incorrect having resulted in a cold shoulder from the lesbian world. This is truly unfortunate. This film is much better than I was told it would be. Well, except for the convenient ending that takes the easy way out. The 3 main characters are well developed and painfully like real people. They resolve real problems with sensitivity and non-violence. They make personal sacrifices out of love and regard for others. One of the magical things that can happen with a low budget film is that it is free from profit mongering producers who put a lid on the presentation of reality. Again, it is truly heartbreaking that this film took the easy way out in its last 10 minutes. We get the husband's choice, and to some extent Maggie's but Annie was robbed of hers. Still,it was very eerie to see a story unfold that had so much of real life in it without any Hollywood polish.

A good movie about life
benbree7 August 2011
This movie surprised me. It demonstrated that love truly conquers all. The husband, the wife, and the girlfriend all seek happiness and will do what it takes to ensure it. That is life - sometimes you get what you want and sometimes you make a sacrifice to get what you want. Despite the length, this is a good story.

The ending is sad but the story is the story. I think the folks who wrote this wanted to find a way to mend all in the end in they do. Please enjoy this movie and think of the joys and challenges of life. It one does this, this movie becomes a great example of the challenges we face each and every day.

Good easy to watch movie
steph-14820 November 2004
I like this movie because you can really relate to the three main characters and the relationship they have. The on screen chemistry between the two women is excellent although the making out scenes were a little juvenile you definitely feel their attraction for each other. I thought Adam Knox who plays the husband was excellent and his character was very refreshing to see.

There are lots of great music tracks as well, although sometimes I thought they carried on playing in the background when they should have faded out.

I won't tell you how it ends but there was a point in the film were I felt the writers had got them selves cornered making the ending a little too predictable.
