This is a great documentary. It mixes interesting stories with primary historical documents (photos, accounts, art) and beautiful HD-shot live footage. The stories are beautifully narrated by Keith Carradine. Carradine adds drama to the story.
The live footage is beautifully shot. I often use this disk as a demo for picture quality on my high-definition television. The nature shots are beautifully composed. The viewer truly gets a feel for what it is like to be in Ghettysburg.
Some of my favorite stories involve the medicine of the time. Every story is a mini history lesson. This DVD is an enjoyable way to learn about our nation's past.
