The production is known by a number of titles including "Lizzie", "A Woman of Good Character", "Lizzie: A Woman of Good Character" and "It's Lizzie to Those Close" as well as inspiring another, Heart of the High Country (1985).
"No character names are listed in the credits" according to the book "New Zealand Film 1912-1996" (1997).
Sarah Peirse won the Best Actress Award at the 1982 New Zealand Felix Awards for her performance in this film.
The movie inspired the later production Heart of the High Country (1985), where the name of the central character Lizzie was changed to Ceci. Sarah Peirse, lead Lizzie actress of It's Lizzie to Those Close (1983), worked on this later production as casting director.
Additional footage was shot after the original film had wrapped including substantially on the mountain property of producer Graham McLean.
