Warning: Spoilers
Well I got to see this film last night at the Long Island International Film Expo in Long island! I was laughing through the whole film. The film was about date rape and this guy "Barry Dingle" who was the rapist. When he was accused of rape I was not sure if he would get brought up on charges! Well he does and the movie tells his story from being in jail to getting out and trying to get revenge. The character Barry Dingle, was very lovable through the whole movie! You kind of feel sorry for him in a sense. You can not dislike him, its impossible! The cast was perfect and well acted. If you need a good laugh I highly recommend this film.

Of 1200+ movies I've seen in my life, this joins a handful of the unwatchable

About 20 minutes was all I could take. Name a technique of good film-making that underlies sound story structure, dialog or characterization, and this film seemed oblivious to nearly all of it.

I'm the kind of film lover who seeks out the unusual, the unknown independent, the challenging. I've seen enough movies to know to hold on for a little bit if the first 10-20 minutes is struggling to break into something of interest. But not this film. So clumsy and tone-deaf was the writing (the actors did an heroic job with the limited material), it defies comprehension how such a film could get any funding whatsoever.

I hate having to write reviews like this since I know how hard it is to put any feature length film together. I'm loathe to rain on another's dreams. But, for hell's sake, this is the kind of drivel that--I'll forgive myself for saying this one time--makes me yearn for the next Hollywood flick.

unbelievable

I registered on this site just to comment on this movie.

I love quirky, off the beaten track movies. This movie is quirky in the way that makes you want to pluck your eyeballs out so that you will never have to watch it, or anything remotely like it, again.

The funniest thing in this "comedy" is the fbi piracy warning. It's not that the premise or story line is offensive, as some reviewers suggest, but that it's just plain awful. The cast, who could probably make a pretty good movie if one was available, were certainly not the problem. In their most herculean effort they couldn't breathe live into this corpse. It boggles the mind to imagine how they must have been coerced into acting in this turkey.

If you're looking for a truly terrible movie, you've found your treasure. An absolute waste of film.

Hysterical Indie Flick
kingrab8 June 2006
I don't know how my friend found this movie, but it was funny as hell. It says Barry Dingle, here but the DVD we watched said Dingle, Barry but it's the same movie. It was fun to watch a indie that didn't take itself seriously, not overwrought with heavy drama or trying to make some preachy message, it was just funny. Talking about the film after it was over, we realized how wrong some of the stuff we laughed at was, and that's why the film works. It takes serious subject matter and makes it completely outrageous. It is a very good ensemble cast, the highlight being Erik Palladino playing four characters, and making each one funnier then the last. The music is fun, and the story is told in a fun way, a couple of camera tricks, and structurally moving characters back and forth through different time periods and scenes. I recommend it for hanging out with friends, make sure they have a sense a humor though; I could see why people might be offended by the film. This film is destined to be a "cult classic".

Dingle Rocks!

I just found out about this film and I have to say Barry Dingle is so funny. To fully appreciate it, you should have a sick sense of humor and enjoy watching completely off-center, dark comedy. This is a movie to watch when you want to laugh your a@# off. I enjoy films that push the limits and Dingle definitely does that. If you're looking for a sweet, feel-good movie to take your Mom to, this isn't it. The easily offended and overly sensitive viewer may not get it, however people who love comedy in the vein of John Waters' "Serial Mom" or Todd Solondoz's "Happiness" will love this flick. The interactions with Barry and his mother have to be seen - so wonderfully over the top and hilarious.

A refreshing change of pace!!!

Barry Dingle is they type of film that doesn't get made anymore. Today's filmmaker's are so worried about offending people that they just produce the same saccharine garbage over and over again. Dingle bucks that trend.

It starts off with two very unlikable characters and takes us through their various misadventures. As the Dingles move from one amoral scheme to another, we are treated to hilarious scene after scene as the limits of "common decency" are pushed at every turn.

The casting is dead-on as every actor immerses themselves into their character and into Barry Dingle's warped world, which sadly isn't too far off from our world, although we wouldn't want to admit it.

And the film never cops out, it refuses to moralize and teach you a lesson. It lets the story play out as it should, for better of for worse (in this case, for the better).

If you're looking for a daring film that will make you laugh from beginning to end, pick up a copy of the DINGLE!!!!!

I discovered this movie by stumbling across the trailer on myspace. I had to immediately see what all the buzz was about and I must say that I laughed my ass off. Although Lucas Haas is a bit of a douche, there's some really funny stuff here. This film has some great writing and brilliant casting. The main character, Barry, was hilarious. As much as you hate him, you can't help but respect his tact. For an indie film, this piece really stood on its own in quality. Beneath all the tasteless jokes and legal turmoil, there's truly something deeper going on here. This movie taught me many things. I recommend you see for yourself. I say, go Barry Dingle!
