(at around 24 mins) When Congressman Baxter is driving his Hummer after the bird incident, his windshield switches from clean to dirty many times.
(at around 30 mins) After the birds visit Evan in his office he gets in his car to go home. The windscreen is clean. Yet when we see many animals in the rear view mirror, the front screen is soiled.
(at around 24 mins) When Evan parks outside congress the car in the shot when he's pulling in is a Mercedes CLK, but when he exits the car it is a Mercedes SLK.
(at around 31 mins) When Evan speaks with God after the birds have alighted on and flown off his shoulders, claw marks on his suit's back disappear and reappear continuously.
(at around 45 mins) Just before the boy says "Dad, we can do this..." a blue car is driving on the road behind Evan. In another angle, as Evan sits down, the car has disappeared. In the shot of the children after Evan says "we need something to lift those beams" the car appears again on the left side of screen. (widescreen version only)
(at around 24 mins) Members of Congress park in a garage, not outside.
(at around 53 mins) The idea that a committee chair can "fire" an elected Representative is entirely false. A chair could kick a member off a committee, but only the entire House has the power to expel a Representative. As an elected Representative, no one has the power to "suspend" a member other than expulsion, which requires a floor vote of the entire House. Also, one does not "commit censure," as Chairman Long says; censure is a punishment applied to members short of expelling them, which the entire House has to vote to approve. Evan's behavior may have merited either censure or expulsion, but Long can't do either of those acts on his own, and certainly can't "fire" Evan from Congress.
(at around 26 mins) When Evan is in his office surrounded by birds, behind him are two blue peacocks. Within the story we are meant to believe that this is a breeding pair, but they are both male. Female peacocks (peahens) are brown.
(at around 24 mins) Members of Congress still have regular license plates on their personal vehicle. They usually place their Congressional plates on the dash as they change vehicles.
(at around 1 min) In the movie's opening scene, Evan Baxter anchors one more newscast before leaving for his new job as a U.S. Congressman. In reality, this would create a conflict of interest. By Federal law, Baxter would have to resign as a news anchor prior to launching his campaign, or the TV station would have to provide free equal time to his opponents.
(at around 3 mins) Even though the area code for the phone number on Eve Adams's real estate signs is 804, which is the area code for Richmond, some two hours away from Washington, D.C., it was a cellular telephone number. So she could have been issued the telephone number in Richmond, then later relocated to Washington D.C.. People very often (in fact it's the norm) keep their cellular telephone numbers when they relocate.
During the scene where Evan raises his staff right when the animals begin to run toward him you can hear a voice say "let's go, let's go".
The brown dog is called a boy throughout the movie, when it is in fact a female dog.
(at around 7 mins) At the beginning of the film, when Evan is praying at the end of his bed, there is a light shining from the left side of the screen. There is also a light shining through a window behind him when the shot changes. Assuming this scene takes place at night, the light makes it clear that this scene was shot during the day.
(at around 9 mins) There is no zip code on the box which arrives on their doorstep, with an otherwise complete address.
(At around 31 minutes) when God is talking to Evan atop the hills - right before he crosses his arms - the cropping is visible at his right elbow. There is a sharp cutoff from editing the greenscreen.
The Northern Virginia suburbs, though hilly in some places, are not mountainous as portrayed in the film.
The license plates of the cars are California plates, but the movie takes place in Virginia.
The Reflecting Pool located in Washington D.C. does not sit in front of the United States Capitol Hill. The National Mall lies between Capitol Hill and the Washington Monument.
As Congress is always sworn in during the month of January and the film takes place in Washington DC, it would be very cold during the time where the film takes place. However, Evan mentions taking a hike with his family on his first day (January 3rd), characters are seen wearing shorts and T-shirts, and all plants are lush and green with no sign of snow anywhere.
(at around 19 mins) The European map on the wall in the hallway is totally incorrect. Portugal seems to be part of Spain, Turkey is smaller, there's a new country on eastern Mediterranean and Northern African countries are dislocated.
(at around 48 mins) Evan asks for unleavened bread, but the tradition of eating unleavened bread did not start until Moses and the exodus from Egypt, almost 1000 years after Noah.
(at around 48 mins) Evan asks for unleavened bread and his wife hands him a Pita Bread. Pita is not considered unleavened bread.
