Not surprisingly, the "man behind the Goof" . . .

. . . had a lifelong fascination with the circus in general and clowns in particular. Late in his career he created the television Bozo. Prior to that, Pinto voiced the stuffy "Practical Pig," the dour, sour pork chop who was such a buzz kill for the pair of normal, fun-loving bacon backers. Eventually Mr. C. saw the light, and defected from the Dark Side for the coveted role of the grasshopper brave enough to defy the Queen of Ants. This led to bigger if not better things, as Pinto inherited the part of the Goof Mutt. Good for him.
