This film, made in Korea, was filmed entirely in the Japanese language because the Japanese colonial government outlawed the use of Korean language.
The writer/director's name, Pungjeon Sarang, is an alias literally meaning "Trembling Love". Had he used his real name, it would have been seen as collaboration with the invading nation.
