By the end, you will wish Dean Alioto had never been born!

Warning: Spoilers
My summary in regard to L.A. DICKS writer\director\producer\editor\star Dean Alioto is a counterpoint to the first comment posted here by "Your Director" (Alioto himself?) when this misfire first screened, which concludes, "By the end, you will be begging for a sequel." NOT! In the "bonus" material called "out-takes," Alioto remarks to his DP that he's heard it's not too smart to act in your first feature in your feature directorial debut. Well, DUH! This movie is very poorly edited, the writing leaves a lot to be desired, and the directing appears non-existent, as in "do your own thing" (something confirmed by another portion of the out-takes). As for the producing, this is so no-budget that when a rag-top is vandalized it's obvious the retractable rubber prop knives have done no damage, while a retaliatory broken Cadillac skylight is supposedly implied by a handful of safety glass crumbs a crew member probably scooped up gratis from a nearby fender-bender. If directionless slop like this was churned out by Michigan State U. film students, it would NEVER receive national DVD distribution!

Very funny script!

I saw the premier of the film LA Dicks last night, and I was very impressed. The characters and the script are very well written. Dean and Anthony have great, comedic chemistry upon playing the roles of 2 partners. The story is fun and it catches your interest right away in the beginning scene. Erik Palladino and Michael Madson create a nice familiar feel to the film that draws you in. I enjoyed Sarah Wynter's performance as Anthony Guidera's love interest. Director/Writer Dean Alioto did an excellent job playing "Harold" in his first acting role. If you enjoy buddy cop films packed with hilarious performances and funny jokes then LA Dicks is not one to miss!

When this film is released, I highly recommend watching it. By the end, you will be begging for a sequel.

Great Idea needs better casting
jjwordsmith8 October 2008
Being a fan of Anthony Guidera from his days on Hope and Gloria where he was truly funny. It was sad to see him and other cast members so poorly directed. Too bad the idea behind the movie could be so much more. Fell flat from lack of focus again directing. Strange with Dean's record and awards. Several times the movie would gather steam then fall flat. Jokes were there but died on the vine almost every time. The whole idea of lost in LA was never flushed out. Maybe with some more editing and adding cut material they could recover, worth a try.So close to being a cult film with just a little more thought. Why was Michael Masdsen cast and given so little. Better luck next time.
