Nice debut
botnfilms14 June 2006
I rented the movie a few nights ago and watched it with my wife. The relationship between the main characters was nicely developed so that the events that occur in the final act actually mean something. Good story which is the most important element to me. Very enjoyable. Good use of the City of Oxnard. it was good to see Michael DeLorenzo again . I haven't really seen him since his days on Ny Undercover. I think he was on a SHOWTIME series but that was a few years ago. I did a little research and discovered that this was a story based on the writer- directors own experience growing up.I look forward to seeing his next film.

Terrible -- even for an Indy, low budget

This movie is just a bunch of edited junk put together. The director/writer needs to go back to film school and review the basics (if he even went). There are so many poorly framed scenes in this movie. Frequently I wondered, as I watched, why the camera was focused on a plant in the background instead of the actor/speaker. Also, there were many scenes where the actor/speaker barely had a quarter of the screen for focus, making it difficult to watch and concentrate on their lines. No focus in this movie at all.

Also, you can actually *hear* the cuts between each take because the audio doesn't sync up right. You will frequently hear someone deliver their lines (poorly, I might add) then see the camera change to another angle and painfully hear a POP or SNAP in the track. Also, the audio level is ALL over the place. Clearly there was no attempt to make it sync up.

Finally, there's the lighting -- or lack of. Most scenes obviously didn't have a light kit involved. Everyone looks flat and 2-dimensional. Frequently when the camera cut to another angle, the color balance would go all wacky. This movie appears to have the quality of an old 80s camcorder.

Credit does go to the director though for a first-attempt at a film. I can appreciate that. Maybe your next one will be better. Please practice your camera work and editing first, though.

So I have to just ask.... who gave this movie a 10? Looking at the cast and crew list... I imagine everyone who worked on this film probably logged onto IMDb.com and ranked their own movie. Don't fall for it. It's utter crap.

Forget the hater!

For the guy who wrote the negative comment, he is pretty much a bitter guy who never made a film in his life, so he doesn't understand the sacrifice it takes to make a movie. He is one of those "can't do" dudes!!!! Because for anyone that sees this movie, they can see a real good storyline and a solid attempt to make a movie with a message. Every movie doesn't need explosions or some state of the art look. Sometimes, the best movies are the simple ones. And it is so clear, based on all the reviews this hater has done, that he is a bitter guy with no skill or talent to get his movie made. So for the real people who like movies, don't let this clown ruin your chance to witness a true piece of art.
