Ossie Davis and Stephen Rea in Proud (2004)

Goofs

Edit

Factual errors

The movie refers to A.W.O.L. (Absent With Out Leave) which is an Army term. The correct term for the Navy is U.A. (Unauthorized Absence).
In the scene showing the ships departure from New York harbor, the camera pans down the side of the ship as the men "man the rail", and shows that the ship is still tied up to the pier.
During the storm while escorting the convoy the radioman and the officer refer to the "aerial" being blown away. On a Navy ship there are no "aerials", they are called "antennas".

Revealing mistakes

The USS Mason was supposed to be a newly commissioned ship. In the correspondents cabin the electrical conduct has paint worn off. The speaker on deck is dented, chipped paint and been painted over.
