Another movie about a movie
altermail20 January 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Another movie about making a movie. They say 'write what you know' but did we really need another movie filled with producers and screenwriters and casting couches and shots of the Hollywood sign? The naked actresses might keep a 13 year old boy watching. But it is not the nakedness but rather the the bloodshed and portrayals of rape and drug use that make this movie true pornography. The Vatsky brothers had a few funny moments - if you think rape and murder and blood are funny. They have their own web site at www.vatsky.com, and show scenes from this movie on their demo video, as if they are proud of Checking the Gate. Checking the Gate is a film industry term for making sure the camera isn't dirty and ruining the shot. They didn't need to bother checking for this film. Why 3? The movie was odd enough to what to see where it ended.

Tour of LA with action
ericbrooking28 February 2006
For a movie made on a budget this film is great fun. You get a great tour of all the famous sites in the LA area rapped around a clever story line that delivers quite a few laughs. The B movie feel really adds to the comedy while the serious story line keeps you watching. Athena Demos was excellent and I hope she keeps the red wig. The other standouts in the movie were Boris and Ilya Gorovatsky. Their lines were always well delivered and they were both very funny. The gun play in the film looked great however the pyro effect of the exploding car wasn't the best, but this also added to the B movie feel.

The movie includes many shots from Hollywood, Santa Monica, Malibu Lake, and the Thousand Oaks area. If you have ever lived in the LA area this film is a must see.
