A rare film from Guatemala, part story-part documentary filmed in the endangered rainforests of Guatemala
sundevil2717 January 2004
I just saw this film's premiere screening at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival and came away very entertained and felt the better for seeing this rare film from Guatemala. The film takes places in the ever shrinking Guatemalan jungles and has amazing location shots, and the story nicely intertwines itself with the location. The basic summary of the movie is a young man from Madrid moves to Guatemala and purchases some land in the rainforest and encounters some problems with the local hunters, which leads to a few surprises. I felt the actors were all very good and interestingly the majority of the cast in the film are not pro-actors just locals. The film really gives you a since of what its like to live in the jungle and glimpses of the simple life the people live there. I would recommend this film for the cinematic photography alone, however I would also say that the storyline is original and it kept my interest for the entire film.
