Ray Cioni ran one of the last cel-animation shops in Chicago, doing work for films as well as commercials. This was an early feature (for him) with a cute plot designed to teach kids that they are unique, and should use their own talents rather than being jealous of others. I was brought on to write the music and lyrics (I was a senior in college at the time). I labored long and hard to create songs to Ray's specifications. Somehow he managed to get blues great Corky Siegel to record the songs, which I thought was great! It wasn't until the "premiere party" that I discovered I had been demoted to "lyricist" with Siegel getting the music credit. It was my first experience with the vagaries of the film industry. If you can find this little gem, be sure to show it to your kids!
