Knuckles Chaotix, Fundamentally flawed, yet fun.

Warning: Spoilers
Knuckles Chaotix was the only Sonic game to ever be released on the destined to fail Sega 32X add-on for the Sega Genesis. Starting out as a prototype called "Sonic Crackers," Knuckles Chaotix was the average speedy platformer that almost all Sonic games of the 90's were, but it had a twist. This game introduced a mechanic called the Ring Tether, a pair of rings that tied two characters together, and forcing you to play with a computer you can't escape from. This is unfortunately, a detriment to the game, as the ring Ring Tether can be rather buggy at times. It is your job as one of the Chaotix members (Knuckles, Vector, Charmy, Espio, and Mighty) along with your tethered partner to save Newtrogic High Zone, a floating island that has been taken over by Dr. Robotnik, and collect the six Chaos Rings, obtained by finishing a level with fifty rings, jumping into a giant ring over the goal post, and completing the special stage you're taken to. There are five zones in total, each zone consisting of five acts, the fifth level of each being a Boss Level. After completing each level, you are faced with a final challenge from Robotnik and his metallic minion, Metal sonic. The outcome of this battle changes depending on if you gather the chaos rings, or not. Overall, I give this game a 6/10. It's certainly a creative idea, but not everything was executed very well, making the game somewhat difficult to control. The lack of challenge in most of the levels also prevents me from giving this a better score. If the level design was a bit more creative, and there were more badniks, I would have rated this higher, but as it is, it's a fun game if you're looking for something obscure to play.

KNUCKLES' CHAOTIX

This is the only spin off game that I play alongside the main series. It's great. It gets a lot of hate from people who get frustrated by the tether mechanic but let me tell you, if you give it time you'll realise that you can move accurately and with great speed!

Play as Knuckles, Espio, Mighty, Charmy, Vector, Bomb and Heavy through tower block levels of platforming madness! Bonus stages inspired by a small animated scene from SONIC CD, truly classic special stages, and bosses marginally harder than those of SONIC CD!

I love it.

Great sequel to an unreleased game!

Sonic Crackers, a Genesis game that was unreleased, turned into this. Knuckles Chaotix is the first game to have Knuckles as the main character, it introduced Espio, Charmy, and Vector (not mighty because he was in sega sonic the hedgehog), there are so many moves, it's THAT good.

KNUCKLES' CHAOTIX

"KNUCKLES' CHAOTIX" (1995) is now a curio for gamers and Sonic fans as it was quite a major game that died of death instantly and has been left buried by SEGA since. Original 32X cartridges can be found selling for hundreds of pounds and vast swathes of potential players have never heard of it and those who have will often tell you that it is a terrible game.

Is it a terrible game? Certainly not. I took the time to get to grips with its tether mechanic and actually the brotherly bond is really quite versatile. In fact it is the most versatile and open to experimentation mechanic from all the Sonic games, including the modern ones.

There are aesthetic problems such as depthless backgrounds, rather unimposing badnicks that blend in with the scenery, and the random level generator. Also you can work away collecting the chaos rings in exceptionally fun special stages but you won't get any of that chaos super energy. The bosses are very easy but the final boss is an exciting mix of metal Sonic and alien.

So besides the mechanics and special stages, what's there to like? A lot. The characters have soul. There are really wacky goings on. The soundtrack is wonderful. The colours are dazzling. The speed is stomach turning.

It is one of the most underrated games ever made.

Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the most famous video games of all time! The characters, the jumping, the power-ups, and the sure thrill of adventure makes this entire series a fun non-stop playing time! Below is a brief look how I think the game is!

Game Play: The game play on the 32X is great! There is really basic controls here and is easy to perform. Novice gamers should have a good time here!

Graphics: The graphics are wonderful. The backgrounds are really beautiful!

Difficulty: The game is easy but as it goes on you''s find out that it will become more difficult!

Music: The music is great! Just fantastic catchy tunes through out the game! In My opinion its some of the best music ever in a video game!

Sound: The sound is great. Nuff said!

Overall: I have always loved Sonic the Hedgehog and Knuckles the Echidna! If you like excellent adventure games then I strongly recommend you play this game!
