For the "vomit" scene the director wanted absolute realism, so Iris Palmer had to drink a concoction of blended spaghetti bolognaise, milk and food coloring, then chase it with a mug of hot water, salt and lemon juice, inducing projectile vomiting. Watching the scene, a member of the Premiere screening fainted and had to be dragged to the bathroom to be revived. Also at the Premiere an audience member ran out crying and screaming when a very bloody scene came on.
Ben Cobb did a bit of modeling to pay for the film.
The cast and crew were thrown out of the London Underground, even though they had gotten prior permission from London Transport, after scaring and emptying two train carriages. All the passengers had witnesses the scene with the witch and the pig's heart, but hadn't noticed the film camera, so were justifiably scared out of their wits.
