Singapore's most famous folk legends come to life in this series with five separate stories: Lady of the hill - A beautiful and virtuous lady wrongly accused by her husband of adultery ends her life to prove her innocence. Black vs White - A just and upright official together with the help of a righteous young man fights corruption. Troupe of Righteousness - The origins of the traditional lion-dance. Tales by the river - A female ghost enlists the help of a storyteller to take revenge against her murderer. The tragic quest - A man who desires to have a grandson takes his entire family to Kusu island to pay respects to the son-bearing tree. Tragedy strikes on the journey back home.

Myths and Legends of Singapore tells the stories of how certain public institutions in Singapore have their names derived. In Lady of the Hill, the area Redhill in Singapore was named after the story of a virtuous wife, Mrs Lin, who later became known as the Lady of the Hill.—taipansmith@lycos.com
