oooh i remember the days when i got my first NES and was stunned by the dozen wee blocks that made up Mario... anyway this game was the 4th i ever got and being 6 and heavily into robots, i enjoyed the sci fi side of the game. From screen shots it may just look like another game like 1945 where you build up your arsenal until you just have to hold down the shoot button to win, but this game was much better. For a start you could not only move from left to right, but up and down as well... although this actually made no difference to anything, as holding down too long would mean you crashed into the floor, and up wouldn't let you fly over any mountains blocking your way. You could also (at the end of each level) buy things, such as machine gun upgrades and various missiles.... but first you had to dock with a slowly rotating space station! anyway overall this is much more than any 1945 style game and was brilliant for its time. 8.5/10
