Opening words: «BOMBAY 1965 - This story is set in the period when general insurance companies were not nationalized and hundreds of con-men cheated such companies. To exercise stronger controls the Government of India nationalized all general insurance companies through the General Insurance Business (Nationalisation) Act, 1972. This film is a total fantasy, inspired by a real incident in Allahabad, in the Sixties, when three con-men cheated a private general insurance company in connivance with its staff.»
After this film Asrani didnot direct film for about 12 years, then in 1992 he made Dil Hi To Hai with Jackie Shroff, Divya Bharti & Ayesha Jhulka.
Asrani had a nervous breakdown and was admitted in the hospital when the film flopped.
Asrani later regretted acting in the lead role. He later felt taking Rishi Kapoor would have been better for the film.
Asrani was upset with Zarina Wahab. He wanted her for the film but she was not interested. Instead of giving him a straight answer, she kept playing hide and seek with him. Finally Asrani got the message and he vowed to never work with her again.
