This is the first movie in the Disney animated feature line-up to have a character voiced by Sir Patrick Stewart. Stewart previously tried out for characters in previous Disney animated theatrical movies, but wasn't lucky enough, mainly due to his commitment with Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987). These include: The Horned King in The Black Cauldron (1985); Basil of Baker Street in The Great Mouse Detective (1986); Francis in Oliver & Company (1988); King Triton in The Little Mermaid (1989); Cogsworth in Beauty and the Beast (1991); Jafar in Aladdin (1992); Scar and Zazu in The Lion King (1994); Ratcliffe in Pocahontas (1995); Frollo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996); Zeus in Hercules (1997); Clayton in Tarzan (1999); Jumba In Lilo & Stitch (2002); Mr. Arrow in Treasure Planet (2002); Emperor of China in Mulan (1998); Kashekim Nedakh, the King of Atlantis in Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001).
There are 250,000 feathers on Chicken Little.
The second fully computer generated theatrical movie produced in-house by Disney, rather than being hand-drawn, the first one being Dinosaur (2000). This would be the new style for every Disney animated theatrical movie afterwards, apart from The Princess and the Frog (2009) and Winnie the Pooh (2011).
Holly Hunter was never considered for Abby Mallard, she was the original voice of Chicken Little. she recorded all of her lines, but was replaced by Zach Braff when the studio decided to make the character a male.
A sequel called "Chicken Little 2: The Ugly Duckling Story" was in production when John Lasseter was appointed Chief Creative Officer of Disney Animation. His first task was to cancel all sequels.
Editor Dan Molina performed the "voice" of Fish Out of Water by vocalizing through a tube into a water cooler tank full of water.
