A small feast for the eyes and ears
Pro Jury16 April 2005
A young girl visits the home of her ancestors for the first time. From a child's perspective, we witness this visit. NUPUR is captured with elegant photography and perfect mood-setting music.

This movie is a 10 minute short film created by a molecular biologist who deserted science for the arts. Indian born Aparna Malladi eventually went on to study film at San Francisco's Film Arts Foundation. NUPUR, which means anklet, won the 2001 Family Award at the USA Film Festival in Dallas, Texas. NUPUR is Aparna Malladi's first film and is very well done.

US TV viewers may catch NUPUR, along with other rarely seen short films made by or about Asians, on cable's AZN channel.
