Misleading Title, Okay Movie
dungeonmaster-123 December 2004
Warning: Spoilers
Right first off lets get this out the way. Naked Campus barely takes place on Campus practically the first thing the main characters do is graduate and move off Campus.

Secondly there's not that much nudity less than you'd find in say a teen comedy. Generally what there is is thrown in during a couple of early set pieces which is where much of the films comedy lies.

Okay so if it's not some social experiment with naked students what's it all about.

Generally it follows the fortunes of three protagonists and their girlfriends through the year after they graduate. Mike is the main focus a DJ on a minor country and western station, looking to make his job more interesting and get back with his girlfriend, John a big flaky guy that is more interested in girls than work and Greg an investment councillor.

Early on Mike rebells against his father and goes his own path while Greg follows in his fathers footsteps, neither path is shown making it's respective follower happy and Johns listless drifting seems to bring the greatest happiness.

One thing that must be note the film quality is awful with frequent scratches and marks, including the reel change cigarette burns and a 15 minute section with black lines down part of the screen)

Over all an interesting curio but not a great film there is some fairly indifferent acting and the the film has a Saturday Night Fever feel to it but on a lower budget with less dancing (though there are occasional disco outbreaks)

This movie is like viewing a "Time Capsule" and is worth seeing.

The title may be misleading if one is seeking a movie about naked people running around a campus. This is not "that kind of movie" so save your money if that is what you are looking for.

The title is appropriate when I think back to the sheltered life led on Campus, in the dorm, in friendships that were centered on fun. The Naked Campus is where young people who have been students from 6 years old to early 20's are suddenly expected to "grow up" and fill the expectations of family. Where they learn the harder, relational lessons.

I liked it. This is one of those "snap shot" movies; reality TV ahead of it's day. There are some tough issues addressed such as alcoholism, family pressure to meet expectations and co-dependency. There are some very dramatic scenes as a result of the alcohol abuse.

It is a "low budget" film but still it held my attention and was a good story overall. The acting is good, actually better than you might expect.
