The film starts with one of the boys playing pinball. As the camera shows the machine, you can see that the scores are both zero, even though it looks and sounds like the game is being played.
The car is a 1968 Plymouth Satellite. In the shot in which the boys see the keys in the ignition, the keys are hanging from the steering column. In 1968, the key switch is on the dashboard. It wasn't moved to the column until 1970.
