This movie is an attempt to show the positive side of Chinese prisons, but its fatal flaws resulted in big disappointment and tarnished the original intent.
For starters, the Chinese jails do not house male and female prisoners in the same jail. There are separate female prisons specially built to house female criminals. Second, there would never be a female warden for male prisons, this is due to the reason that if there were any riots in the prison, the wardens are required to handle the riots, and female wardens is not like to be able to handle male prisoners who are much stronger than them, especially in the case such as this movie depicted: the warden is also old. Male wardens can be in charge of female prison, but not vise versa.
The film crew appeared to have absolutely no idea about the Chinese jail system and this attempt to look at the prison system by eulogizing the female warden is a complete flop.
