Wes Ramsey and Steve Sandvoss in Latter Days (2003)

Goofs

Latter Days

Edit

Continuity

When Christian rips his shorts and cuts himself on the hose reel, Aaron puts two bandages on the cut and helps Christian to the bedroom. When they walk through the bedroom door, there are no bandages on the cut anymore.
When Christian confronts Ryder against the exterior apartment wall, the shadows alternate between hard shadows and soft shadows, indicating a mismatch between takes.
When Gladys Davis runs out of the house after Christian, from indoor we see the sun is shining directly at the door. From outside, Gladys runs a few steps before she gets to the sunlight.
When Christian picks up Lila's glass and says, "Hear hear," the take following shows Lila with the glass, without any hand-off.
After his mother slaps him in the face, Aaron starts crying and he has both hands/one hand on his face between shots.

Factual errors

When asked for his first name Aaron says he is not allowed to use his first name. Missionaries are not allowed to call each other by their first name but there is no rule that says you can not tell people your first name.
LDS missionaries are not allowed to be in a house alone with a woman who isn't accompanied by her husband or an older male relative.
The name tags worn by the missionaries have the old LDS Church logo from before 1996.
Harmon asks the elders to cite First Corinthians 7:1. Aaron answers with citing Second Corinthians 7:1. Harmon, however, says it is correct.
When Aaron and Chris are preparing to enter Aaron's home, Aaron has his bag on a side of his shoulder. When they enter the house, Aaron's bag is on the other shoulder.

Revealing mistakes

At the scene outdoors of the airport terminal Christian goes to reenter the airport but the door is "frozen shut". However the camera is pulled back enough that we see that he is blocking the door from opening with his foot. He makes two attempts and both are blocked by his left sneaker.
In the first laundry room scene, after Chris tells Aaron that colors and whites don't mix Aaron doesn't separate them before starting the washer.

Anachronisms

Aaron is depicted being exposed to electroshock treatments while staying at a mental institution. These are activities which the Mormon Church may have approved of several decades ago, but not when this film was made. By the 1990s, an organization called "Evergreen" had become the unofficial organization run by Mormon psychotherapists that the church would still be using today, and they would not tolerate or recommend such treatment. Aaron would most likely be sent to therapy with one of these therapists in an effort to change his sexual preference.

Crew or equipment visible

When Christian walks through the hotel after Aaron leaves, a crew member can be seen in the huge mirror on the wall.
During the basketball scene, a person or animal can be seen walking in the background and quickly ducking behind a tree.

Plot holes

The major plot hole of this film is the story that has the other missionaries to mock Christian's wardrobe, where's the story to explain the necessity of that?
