" . . . (Anything--YOU fill in the blank)," one expects to at least hear a hummable, catchy tune, such as "We're in the Money" or "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes." Those two musical hits came from Warner Bros., of course. After inventing "Silly Symphonies" for the tone-deaf Dizzy Corporation, the melodious Cal Stalling was forced out after less than a year because he was too musical, talented and thoughtful for that low-budget crass assembly line crew. Fortunately for America, Cal subsequently had a prolific 24-year career for Warner, composing hundreds of memorable scores for our USA Homeland's top cartoon studio (which forced its groaning fat cat and mouse house rivals to literally bribe the corrupt gelded statuette bozos to garner any notoriety at all for their third-rate fare).
