A wonderful little fantasy
bob the moo2 September 2002
In a small fishing village an established fishmonger, Davis, starts to have his supply bought from under him by new boy Alan Leech. This sets off a minor battle between the two for control of the fish supply. The battle results in an incident that sees one of the men re-evaluate his values in life.

This was one of the short film entered into the orange Short Film Award 2002 and to my money one of the best. The plot is simply a comedic battle between two men that is demonstrated in a daily race to be the first to buy fish from the boat when it comes in. However the film takes a wonderful divert into fantasy as a result of an accident during one such race.

The final scenes of the film are very imaginative and are delivered with so little fuss that it just feels bright and cheerful. The two actors do a good job delivering mostly physical roles, but Henshaw has the best of the two roles.

Overall this film is a mix of simple set up and wonderfully bright fantasy that'll make you smile. It's very slight but the strength is it the fact that it is simple but also is going somewhere.

Very impressive

Short story about a fishmonger who battles with the big corporate fish merchant for local fish produce.

I loved this story. I can't remember anyone speaking in it, but every emotion is conveyed brilliantly by the actors. For me it creates a steady balanced progression that brings a big smile to the face when the finale arrives.
