Tom Selleck in Monte Walsh (2003)

Goofs

Monte Walsh

Edit

Continuity

When Monte is breaking the Bay that Shorty never could break, a flank strap appears and disappears throughout the ride.
When Monte and Chet are delivering wire to Fighting Joe Hooker, you see Joe, in a close up, pull the rope with his left hand and start to wrap the end of the rope around the post with his right hand. When the camera angle changes to a longer distance shot, he makes the exact same move. Obviously the same scene shot from 2 different angles.
When the cowboys are roping the stack of the railroad steam engine, the various ropes move down and then up the stack.

Factual errors

The opening setting bar says "Wyoming Territory 1892". Wyoming became a state in 1890 so the use of the word "Territory" is wrong.
During celebration at the end, a guy is holding a sign that says shows "Welcome to 1900" In the background you can hear someone say, "Welcome to the twentieth century!" The twentieth century doesn't start until 1901.

Revealing mistakes

When Fighting Joe rides his horse off the cliff, the horse jumps into mid-air. No horse would consent to this. They have brains and they make judgments. The horse would make every effort to stop and not go over the cliff.
When Shorty shoots Chet, he uses a lever action rifle. Chet's wounds, however, reflect a shotgun, and later Monte says he was "cut in half" by a shotgun.

Shorty actually uses a lever action shotgun. it's a Winchester Model 1887 according to IMFDB.
The morning after Martine "dies", and Monte is sitting next to her bed holding her hand, she is still breathing.

Anachronisms

When we meet Fighting Joe Hooker he is smoking a pipe. The pipe was made by the British Buttner Pipe Co in the 1940s and is made of Bakelite with a porcelain insert. Later on Sugar is smoking the same pipe when he tells Monte about the Countess.

Crew or equipment visible

Towards the end of the movie, when Shorty shoots Monte, you can see the bulge of the squib and blood pack under Monte's shirt.
When Monte is sitting on the swing at the deserted cottage of the Countess, you can see that its a modern chain that holds the swing up. It has carabiners on it with the screw type lock.
