A man wakes with a hangover and is pursued by increasingly terrifying images of relief and devilment.
Director Lewis Fitzhamon, like many of the early film makers, was fascinated by special effects, and there are plenty here, from bottles of booze who stroll jauntily after the drunkard, to devils who appear in puffs of smoke to urge him to drink. Mostly, though, the effects seem to be achieved through puppetry, offered with a grim sense of humor that is far more effective than the hectoring and moralistic tone of contemporary works like BUY YOUR OWN CHERRIES.
