Don't Put Yourself Through This
Dereksdontrun20 August 2003
It's truly awful. Not just low-budget awful but real mind-crushingly BAD in every way. And the worst thing is they're selling them online as a 'family' movie. Kids won't watch this in a million years. It's ponderous and so slow moving. Save your money.

Very enjoyable family entertainment with original ideas and magical scenes.

Enjoyed the film, the story, and the special effects inter-action. The Dragons and their well-being are uppermost in the Creator's mind and show through the ongoing plot. Very enjoyable family entertainment with original ideas and magical scenes.

Dragons in Leeds
prohibited-name-154424 October 2002
My friend lent me this on video and I would like to advise anyone to stay away from it. It's one of the poorest films ever made. The script (involving dragons in Leeds) is laughable, the direction turgid and the sound almost inaudible. I'd imagine a visually and aurally challenged person to make a better film. In it's defense it could be said that it is low budget but to counter that I'd say if you make a low budget film that cost a packet of crisps why would you use computer graphics? It doesn't make sense and looks terrible.

If you want to see how low budget fantasy should be done check out Bad Taste

Where's the sequal!!!!!!!!
J_Robinson19 February 2003
I too have borrowed the film from a friend, and to my shock discoverd a well written and exciting story, which had me glued to my seat for the full duration. Although I understand that the budget was low, the special effects more than matched up to those of Lucas and Co, (who have millions to play with). To my disapointment my friend wanted the copy back, so someone else could watch it (I will be buying it on VHS in the near future, or DVD if one is available), I found that it was a one off and a new film was being produced, not in the slightest relating to the struggle of man against evil but of an old Spanish woman (correct me if im wrong), come on we want more action! I can only hope that there is a script in development for a sequal (or even a preqil) and a backer is found to front the cash. I believe that the director is an untapped talent and is just waiting for Hollywood to call, and if he keeps on producing work like this then he won't have to wait long!

Brit flick that i liked
randy_west3 March 2003
I rented this little baby out of a video store and i was NOT disappointed. I agree with David Bowles comments on the movie it was a well made little film and i'm saying that without being in the film so no-one can accuse me of bias. The effects rock ass and the dragons are SOOOO AWESOME!!!

Better than Jurassic Park in my opinion and that's no mean feat. I hope they make a sequel because in my opinion there's not enough dragon films coming from the UK and not enough films with David Bowles in them (i have loved his work since i saw him as the icy villain in Ninja The Protector) I hope he's okay because he doesn't seem to have done much since. Finally i'd like to say congratulations to the director who has created a masterpiece of suspense, action and dragons on a challenged budget. If this is the level that the guys in Britain can come up with then i think their film industry has nothing to worry about. KINGDOM RULES!!!

Fun and innovative Brit Dragon movie with a family bias
Pgrant-411 December 2002
Hi Fellow film fans,

I logged onto the Kingdom website and eventually bought a copy of the film. Okay its made on low budget, but the story is pretty unique and original. Hollywood might have bigger sets and more showy visuals, but considering this was made using off the shelf software, it's a pretty cool movie. A couple of magazines (I saw it in Camcorder User and SFX) have even reviewed the film - giving generally positive critiques. I had no problems listening to my VHS copy on a mono TV set.

My two kids enjoyed it enough to keep them quite for an hour and a half. Now my sister's kids won't give it back.

Watching Kingdom has encouraged me to dabble in making my own short (it's a start!) after realising its all too easy to borrow a film off a friend without paying for it, then make semi-literate and snide remarks about someone's work. You can't please all the people all the time. At least the team behind Kingdom have something to be proud of.
