Good to watch when you have nothing to do
rosydreamer-949454 August 2020
The first time, I watched this when I was very young. The fights were engaging and addicting then and I liked it very much. However, watching it again as an adult made me not like it so much because of the overboard plot and bad acting.

Gata Salvaje is a Fun Show
dshelly25 March 2004
I have never enjoyed a soap opera more than Gata Salvaje. Unlike the dull, repeated melodrama of most soaps, Gata actually mixes comedy into the lives of its characters. The characters are original, like Panchita, who is funny because she is over-the-top. Anyone who doesn't see that soap-spoofy fun is part of the intention of the show-makers and part of quality of the show is missing the point. This includes almost weekly "catfights" between attractive women:) The show also contains serious subject matter like soap operas often do. Characters like Karina provide a serious side as she struggles with leukemia. Other serious issues like crime, drugs, and alcohol are addressed in a way that promotes responsibility. In all, the show is fun, original, and more rewarding than any other soap opera.

Get rid of Jimena, Ivan and the insanely bad over acting.
pcarranza-1482921 March 2023
Insanely bad over acting, i swear Marlene Favela plays the same role every time she appears on tv. Also it drags on way too long and some of the plot you can tell was written to pander to women that hate men. But the worse part of this novela has to be the whiny temper tantrums of Jimena and Ivan's pure stupidity. You can expect whining from Mayrita because she is a child but honestly those two could have been cut from the show and the main story would remain the same . The only good thing about this novela like all novelas is that the Latin women are fine as hell but you can find that in almost any latin show.

A divine creation 10/10
chalinobisabuelos20 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This series has been carefully crafted by the gods. The scenes, the acting, the development of the characters...everything is divine. The first episode will blow your mind with the epic shipwreck and the plane crash in which Luis Mario lands on a cornfield better than 75% of Ryanair's pilots. Besides, the argument keeps coherent throughout the 251 episodes of this masterpiece, in which Rosaura's suitors fall one by one from the sky, all of them in the middle of a kidnap.

There are fake and teen pregnancies, cancer, alcoholism, aborts, interrupted weddings, a stripper running over an eloping bride with his car, grandmas being beaten in the head, stomach kicks in high heels and a talking parrot. Basically the encyclopedia of telenovelas. I only missed a priest. 10/10 if you play it at x1.5 speed, because they speak too slow.

An insult to mankind
panic10022 August 2003
To those who never heard of this before La Gata salvaje is a South American Telenovela. I usually don't watch these things but I saw it a couple of times and I decided to write about this trash and bash it.

Everybody knows that Telenovelas usually suck but this one sucks extremely hard. No seriously, the first time I saw this, I thought it was a spoof of something (it's that stupid).

One thing that annoys me is that these telenovelas last so long, because the (very very very very bad writers) can turn this two hours 'story' into a series with a duration of months. And the only way to do this, is for example with unnecessary, laughable and repetitive dialogue. It reminds me of Dragonball where a fight could go on for 10 or 15 episodes and 70 % of the duration was dialogue.

But we didn't come to the worst part yet; everybody knows that Telenovelas are known for there atrocious acting. But I wasn't expecting this! In a scale from 1 to then 10, 1 being atrocity and going downhill from there, La Gata salvaje is an 11. There is this character Panchita (What the f*ck were smoking the writers when they came up with this name) who is by far the worst character ever created by a living organism in all History of existence. She gives the word over the top a new definition. And she is also extremely unrealistic; if she existed in real life, she would get shot every time a normal person spended more than five seconds with her together. Now, I don't know if the actress is like that, or the director wanted her to play her part in that way. In both cases the responsible person deserves to be fusilladed.

Another thing that annoys me is the music, they have a few scores for the whole duration and as mentioned above it lasts a few months! Now if the scores were good that wouldn't be a problem but that's not the case. Like the acting, the music is so over the top that it turns every attempt at seriousness into a laugh orgy.

So to sum up, if you are a masochist, want a good laugh and are prepared to affront the consequences (psychological therapy) La Gata salvaje is something for you.

Horrible acting, but a feast for the eyes!
Demnos-29 June 2004
My wife loves watching telenovelas, I usually don't care for them. But this one is different to any other telenovela I have ever seen. So very different that I couldn't resist watching almost every episode.

Instead of finding capable actors, the producers of this show have concentrated entirely on finding incredibly good looking photo models. Acting abilities were apparently not required, good measurements were. At least 5 or 6 of the main female characters are so stunningly beautiful that you cannot take your eyes off the screen. And the lead character Rosaura, oh my god what a babe.

To top things off, most of these girls run around in either bikinis or otherwise very revealing clothing. I swear you will never forget the sight of Camelia in her tight jeans or her long black leather pants...

I cannot comment about the male characters, but my wife was apparently pleased by the looks of some of the leads. Good for her.

The acting is indeed among the worst I have ever seen, the story is dragged out artificially more than one can bear, the plot is in many places completely unrealistic and even illogical, the sets are ridiculously overused, but who cares with so much to see and enjoy...

Many here have commented on the cringe-worthy Panchita. While her scenes are indeed totally obnoxious, they are not the worst yet. A severe word of warning is required here: Easily 10 times more unbearable than the Panchita-scenes are the ridiculous talking-parrot scenes. Well, you can always go grab a new beer...

Gata Salvaje, you must love her
Tarachi31 May 2008
There are no words that can express the true awesomeness of this Telenovela, ....It's just Telenovela cult classic Gold,

starring Malena Favela as the beautiful and innocent Roxaura Rios with a Heart of Gold and Mario Cimarro as Luis Mario Arismendi the hunky rich guy, that all the women want to; fall in love with/trick into marriage or destroy(because he didn't love/marry them.) Except of course his two loving sisters. All they want is for him to be happy and to brake him up with the woman he loves to make him marry their rich friend so that they can get their hands on her money. Now you might think then this Telenovela is somehow about Luis Mario, Its not, he is just the excuse for all the Drama. This is all about the women. Its Basically a really drawn out Hilarious Dramatic battle between gorgeous Latin women (cast for their looks and hot bodies and not their superior acting skills) It has it all, bad acting, evil plotting, regular cat fights, ridiculous over the top dramatic dialog, ingenious insults, ridiculous original story lines. (the baby born With no hands and no feet because the mother secretly drank during pregnancy) Classic clichés but with even more ridiculous twists (The wife that mysteriously disappeared at sea leaving her husband devastated (so she could run away with her lover) that magically returns one day with ....Amnesia!! (because she found out her husband had remarried and she was not having any of that, but didn't feel like explaining where she had been)

If you don't speak Spanish I am afraid much of the brilliance of the dialog might be lost in translation. But even if you don't speak Spanish fluently or maybe just a little, watch it anyway, It's a great fun way to learn. I recommend taking notes, write down the craziest lines and the bitchiest insults, work them into everyday conversations! (be careful though) and if you don't speak Spanish at all, seriously you need to learn it just so you can watch this. But if you don't want to just watch it with subtitles, I'm sure its still funny.

p.s. If you are the kind of person that exclusively watches meaningful black and white artistic films made in France, I don't recommend you don't watch this. But If you are the type of person that appreciates that TV can sometimes be so amazingly bad that its wonderful. then don't miss this.
