James Spader and Janine Eser in Alien Hunter (2003)

Goofs

Alien Hunter

Edit

Continuity

Julian has a scarf that is set differently in three scenes in a row. Once over a jacket, a second time not. These kind of mistakes repeat in many more scenes.

Factual errors

In the running gun battle at the end, Dr. Straub fires his gun 20 times with a 10 bullet clip.
The crew on a Russian submarine call the dive depth in feet (both on the soundtrack and in the subtitles), however, Russia uses the metric system.
Some of the spoken Russian is complete gibberish.
English subtitling of Russian dialogue is wrong. 3-5-0 (tri-pjat-null) degrees is written as 2-5-0.
There are a number of shots of a satellite in orbit with the Earth behind it. Even though every shot that shows the Earth depicts it in daylight, in one shot the satellite goes into a shadow. If it was the shadow of the Earth then the Sun would have to be directly opposite the Earth, and the side facing us would be dark.

Anachronisms

Despite the modern, post-USSR insignia that the crew of the Russian submarine wear, the commander addresses an officer as "tovarischi" or "comrades", which is then translated to "gentlemen" in the subtitles.
On the evening news a press conference is said to be held at 7.30pm EST. But a view of Earth tells it is already around midnight in NYC.

Character error

Julian asks "What are the odds?" and is given the reply "99.999 to the infinite", to which he says "But not 100". But 99.999... equals 100. Try it yourself: call this number X. Multiply X by ten: 10 X = 999.999... Subtract one X from that. This eliminates the sequence of 99.999... and leaves 9 X. Hence 9 X = 900, and therefore 1 X = 100.
