An easy, relaxed game
CuriosityKilledShawn24 July 2004
For those of you who are tired of games that are prone to inducing epileptic seizures then Scooby Doo!: Night of 100 Frights is the kind of simple game you should get into.

The story has Shaggy, Fred, Daphne and Velma get kidnapped by The Mastermind (Tim Curry, in his second outing as a Scooby Doo baddie) and Scooby must rescue them from a spooky mansion.

Not the most imaginative of plots but it's loads of fun playing Scooby. The levels are kind of easy at first but complicate, only slightly, soon after the first power up. You get infinite lives so if there is a certain level you get stuck at, you can try again and again until you get it right.

The opening cut-scene has very bad graphics but the graphics of the actual game are nice and colorful. The music is pleasant enough but it gets slightly annoying after a while.

Definitely a game for children of 5 years and up (um...adults too) as the puzzles are not too heavy and the gameplay is light and easy. Worth the money for sure. The only bad part of the game is the inability to control the viewpoint. Many lives are lost because you cannot see where Scooby is jumping to. It's a minor complaint of an otherwise cool game.

Fun for any Scooby Doo fan
TheLittleSongbird2 August 2013
Scooby Doo: Night of 100 Frights is a very good, fun game, something that any fan of Scooby Doo(count me as one) will like. There are a few instances where the graphics are a little too dark and robotic and some of the commands take time to act upon. However, most of the graphics are colourful with some nice atmospheric dark colours, and the haunted house setting, a familiar setting for Scooby Doo, is a perfect one. The music is nicely composed and has parts that you will remember, of course you'll have to decide for yourself as to whether that's a good thing or not. The dialogue takes a simple tone without being too childish and is easy to understand, any Scooby Doo fan will appreciate the efforts to make it true to the writing style of what we are used to hearing with Scooby Doo. The story again is simple and very Scooby Doo, it makes great use of the setting and is engrossing. The game-play, which serves the story very well though with its slow and robotic moments, is a large part of the fun too, the tasks are inventive with some familiar characters and references that are great to spot and it's not too heavy and challenging or simplistic. The characters are hugely engaging, only the scarecrows weren't quite so much, and the voice acting from all involved is very good, Mystery Inc are all voiced with enthusiasm and a great dynamic and while Tim Curry has done better voice overs he still throws himself wonderfully into a suave, commanding yet menacing character he's perfect for. In conclusion, good fun if not quite as good as the rating here at the moment. Scooby Doo fans and fans of video games will find much to like. 8/10 Bethany Cox

An amusing, light-hearted game.
willywants16 July 2004
Rented this for gamecube the other day. I must admit, it was a lot of fun to play. The gameplay is pretty easy (Despite the fact it takes scooby several seconds to stop after you give the command), the graphics are nice (with the exception of the "Movie" scenes), and the voice acting is usually reasonably good as well. There ARE lots of monsters, some being quite lame (The scare crows stirred up nothing but hilarity), but some can be pretty cool, like the giant, yellow, one-eyed thing and all the giant venus flytraps. A nice, fun, light-hearted romp. A very innofensive and tame game, fun to play on a rainy day. My rating for "Scooby-Doo: Night of 100 Frights"--7/10

Wow. Where can I start?
sam_garrett13 April 2018
Could this game possibly be the second coming of Christ himself? Yes. It could be. Sometimes I lay awake at night, and the only comfort I get is smelling my unopened copy of the game. Where can I possibly begin to list how amazing this game is?

1. The Sound Effects The sound effects in this game are definitely top notch. For example, whenever you jump on a trampoline as Scooby-Doo, the game's protagonist, you almost feel as if you are jumping on the trampoline as well. Also, there's a really cool noise whenever Scooby jumps on a pile of fish on the pier level. I won't spoil it for you, just know that you have to try it out.

2. The Intricate Story This story is so confusing, that I still can't quite perceive it. Could it be perhaps that the game takes place in both difference dimensions, and different time lines at the same time? I sure think so. I never beat the game, but if I had, I'm sure it would've been an ending left open to interpertation.

3. The Scares Boy howdy. The only game spookier than this was the Teen Titans fighting game on Cartoonnetwoek.com. There was this fishman in the game, who still gives me nightmares to this day. Sometimes I'll be laying in bed, and I start to tremble in fear because I hear the noise of the ocean. I live in constant fear of the fish monster from this game. Please help.

All in all, it's good stuff.

10 for story and substance, -1 for buggy gameplay
hks-5641831 July 2019
This game is endless fun no matter how old you are. It's incredibly complex, challenging (almost to a fault), and has a wonderful story. The only reason I would not give it 10 stars is because of some janky control errors. One thing I wish this game had is a way to move your camera. Other than that, it's golden. And Tim Curry as mastermind? UNBEATABLE! I am so grateful that this game has been a part of both my child and adulthood, and I urge any parents with younger children to offer this as an introduction to story gaming. And that way, you have a good excuse to play too when they get frustrated, hahaha.

Best of the Scooby-Doo Game Trilogy
TheMysteriousReviewer8 October 2021
Scooby-Doo Night of 100 Frights is a type of game that contains a lot of charm from Where Are You. It would bring back the monsters from that series and make them to either enemies or bosses. And the bosses are fun to play, even when there would be songs as the background. The story for this game is pretty solid. The characters have some great charm for what we know and love, especially with Mastermind standing out as the villain. And the gameplay has so much to offer. As the title says "Night of 100 Frights," it would contain a hundred different levels. Maybe the dated graphics and weak gaming animation can keep this from being one of the best platform games of the 2000s, but it is the best Scooby-Doo game I played. I think this is worth checking out for any Scooby-Doo fan. Or maybe even for someone that is new to the franchise. Even if it's not the best platform game, I really do appreciate how the game would present of what Scooby-Doo is about.

Fun game, not sure how it gets an 8.1 though.
This is a fun Scooby Doo game similar to the other ones, however it isn't my absolute favorite. Full of challenging levels, unexpected plot twists, and plenty of power ups and more to find, this game is entertaining.

However, some flaws would include the graphics being too dark, a lot of confusion on where to go, and especially not being able to change the camera angle.

It's odd to me how it gets an 8.1 though, I supposed it's because this site is more for movies and not for games, so the ratings can become odd.

Other than that, it's a fun game and I enjoy playing it.
