Sex & Nudity

  • At one point during the game, a crewmember tells another that he and the captain of the crew would make beautiful children. The captain in question is a 13 years old girl.
  • One character looks like she may have no pants on. Her leg color is too close to her skin to discerne whether or not she is wearing pants. She wears a robe that covers that area but some parts where she flys you can see underneath. Nothing but blank white is seen but you can still look up her robe. This may offend some.

Violence & Gore

  • NTM bombs

Profanity

  • "Profanity" is limited to such phrases as "You stink, mister!" and other innocuous statements.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • One of the shops on a large island has a very psychedelic vibe to it (complete with sitar music), evoking images of 1960s drug culture. There is a bar on the same island, though only coffee is served.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Ganondorf and some monsters may scare small children. One dungeon is centered on zombies and skeletons. This and the music could scare small children. Another dungeon is set inside an active volcano, and the constant rumblings of the controller and deep bass "sensurround"-like effect (if you remember the movie Earthquake) can be unsettling, as is the surprisingly realistic lava. The creatures are all very cartoony only really small children will be scared. During a certain part of the game, Link is without his sword and is vulnerable to being caught. The sudden sounds made by the game might frighten the faint of heart, regardless of age.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • Link kills the main antagonist by driving his sword into his skull, however there is no blood and shortly afterwards Ganondorf turns to stone.
  • This game is rather violent for an E-rated game. The fact that the main character, Link, is a child does not make it any less violent. Link dies in surprisingly realistic poses. Combat is achieved through a sword. Enemies die in cartoony poses, and if hit right, enemies may go into humorous, cartoon-like poses. During the final battle, Ganondorf fights with surprising brutality, using moves that would kill or severely injure in real life. At the end of the game, Link drives his sword into Ganondorf's head.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Tetra, one of characters in the game, is darker in complexion than most of the other characters in the game, this has led some players to believe that she is naturally dark skinned. When she is transformed in Princess Zelda towards the middle of game, she becomes lighter in Complexion, which may be uncomfortable or even traumatizing to some children.
