Best Burmese Movie(short) since "It Only Gets Warm When the Sun Shines"!
Overall, I found "The Akha Way" to be a very good short. It didn't have the same number of Burmese stars that "It Only Gets Warm When the Sun Shines" (1977) did, but then again, it was released twenty-some years later, and many of the old stars had died, and young Burmese stars are hard to come by these days. "The Akha Way" portrays the life of a young Burmese woman and her daily woes. It is mostly a docu-drama, but strays into comedy in several places--most notably when Helgi drops her robe into a river, and chases it. Let me tell you, hilarity ensued that day...
