A rare Tamil movie of the late 80s which does not have the cliched urban or rural formula . Karthik has come of age and it shows . Priya is pretty and can also act . She has a double role here . Karthik comes to the big city to work and is wound around his work and his girl friend Priya . Paralelly he notices many people coming to his house asking for some ThenMoli .They wish to thank her . he realises that she was a prostitute but with a golden heart . He goes in search of her house to house , red light area to red light area but his attempts all fail . In this process Priya leaves him saying he is too much engrossed in Thenmoli to pay attention to her .unmindful ( as he is obsessed ) by this elusive woman , he keeps his search on.
One day he sees his Priya dancing with a well known dance director Radha Ravi on stage . He goes to confront her then she says she is Thenmoli. Radha ravi confirms this saying they are married for a long time .He realises that she is his lover's look alike .
Thenmoli is a helpful golden hearted selfless prostitute . Finally his own Priya coms back when she realises her mistake in understanding his feelings for Thenmoli. A fine story with a fine direction. Karthik gets plenty of chance to prance around in the initial half ( his usual romantic light act ) and then a bit intense and serious in the second half .as a frustrated , angry , confused seeker of ThenMoli. A finely made movie of a fine story .
