A funny and different look at life in Ireland

"Any Time Now" is a a six part series about a group of friends who have known each other for years. One of them, Nora has lived in New York for a while but is brought back to Dublin for her father's funeral.

The characters are this programmes strong point as they are not as perfect as the Jane Doe's which are featured in nearly all programmes nowadays. They all heave major flaws and deal with them in funny and surprising ways.

It is a pity this programme is so short and at times it can be slightly predictable but it is enjoyable and a good laugh, and it's always interesting. At least it doesn't have girls with red hair and a pint of guinness in their hand while dancing simultaneously at cross-roads....... Recommended!

We are up to the last episode here and I thought it was such a great series. It's quirky and I loved the fact that each character wasn't stereotyped and had some rather obvious flaws.

Emily (the gold digger widow) was beautifully portrayed and left you wanting to ring her bloody neck! At the same time she showed her treachery, she seemed cool as a cucumber, smiling all the while... I hoped she got her just desserts.

Beautifully filmed, which gave someone in another country a good idea about how others live in different countries. It was intelligently portrayed with a great script. This show is not to be missed and it's a shame that the ABC here aired it from 11pm. Shame!
