Starting with the early days of crystal sets and earphones, this short traces the development of radio to its 1939 position in American life as a form of entertainment, a news source and an educational tool. Narrated by Pathe News commentator Andre Baruch and featuring a montage sequence by Slavko Vorkapich and filled with (vested interest) shots of New York's RKO Building and the National Broadcasting Company plant.
