Sakura means cherry blossom, and is a fairly common name in Japan, popping up frequently in pop culture.
This was Westwood's last game before EA Games closed them down. Westwood had planned an expansion pack or a sequel to C&C Renegade.
When the game was still in development, an image of the Havoc character was released with a very different appearance and backstory than in the final product. Originally Havoc was to be named Jack Sheppard, the son of General Mark Sheppard from the original "Command & Conquer (1995): Tiberian Dawn." This idea was quickly discarded and the character was renamed Nick Parker.
The game was originally going to be released under the title "C&C : Commando"... but was renamed during production
Command and Conquer: Renegade is the only Command and Conquer game which isn't a Real Time Strategy (RTS) game. A new property was spun off for future first person shooters in the Command and Conquer universe called "Tiberium".
