Irish actor Michael McElhatton has been tapped for a recurring role in the second season of the HBO hit series Game of Thrones. McElhatton will play Roose Bolton, a slimy, dangerous character who will play an important part in the events of the series. Bolton, Lord of the Dreadfort, swears allegiance to the newly crowned Robb Stark (Richard Madden), though strangely most of Bolton's season two interactions will be with another member of the Stark clan.
Bolton is a tactical, cunning man who isn't too physically imposing; he's pale and leeches himself regularly for his health. He has a bastard son, Ramsay Snow, and both enjoy flaying the skin from their (still living) enemies. Bolton isn't exactly the most trustworthy character in Robb's camp, though he's an important one because of his strategic skills.
McElhatton most recently appeared in an episode of Masterpiece Mystery's Zen. He also starred in...
