I own both of Steveos Don't try this on VHS and it gives you a good look at what people found funny in the early early 2000s...they are great to still watch at Midnight, but a lot of homo situations mixed in with naked females

Disappointed, not that funny

I am a HUGE Jackass fan, I love all their stuff...even the barf omelette cooked and eaten. I find most Jackass stuff really funny, and cry I'm laughing so hard most of the time.. So.. when I received "Steve-O's- Don't Try This at Home" DVD for a Christmas gift I was excited. I thought I was in for more entertainment. I was mistaken. While a lot of the skits jackass does are stupid, they are still very funny. In Steve-O's video, sorry to say, it was just, well.. stupid. Sure, I cringed watching it and got a minimal amount of entertainment due to shock value alone, but other than that.. it was just kind of dull. On the DVD he mentions that this was footage that nobody wanted or it just never got used, and well, I can see why. When I see Steve-O on the regular jackass shows, I love his stuff. But on this tape, well.. I think I've said enough. Not that good, not that funny. 3/10 stars. I wish BAM MARGERA would come out with a DVD of just him messing with Phil, now that's humor!

Classic JackAss Style Stupidity
Bentonisdead8 April 2002
This movie is a bunch of stuff that is too bad for MTV to show on the air so Steve-O put it out by Himself. I definitely recommend this to any JackAss fan. In one part Steve-O turns himself into a human dartboard and has Johnny Knoxville throw darts at his ass.

Warning: Spoilers
"Don't Try This at Home: The Steve-O Video" is a 33-minute documentary film from 15 years ago and the title already says that the star here is Steve-O. Other members from the Jackass crew appear as well. But the entire thing is basically Steve-O performing all kinds of stunts. These stunts are all either repulsive or dangerous and I do not think that this documentary can be considered art for whatever reason. I guess his intention (and the only reason why he is famous) is because of the shock value and I am probably giving him exactly the response he aims for, namely to shock people and others find it fascinating how he does so. But I just have to be honest. This is one of the worst films/documentaries I have seen in recent history. I see nothing appealing in here. stay far far away.

HAHAH This movie is CRAZY! Steve-O is awesome, and does the weirdest stuff. Definately rent this movie! I can't wait until i can pick up his next movie. I'd have to say my favorite part was probably the ice skating in the very beginning, and the hot sauce in the asian restaurant.. oh, and let's not forget the firecrackers out of his anus :P This movie rocks, and that's all there is to it.

Easily sickening... but funny!

You know you're in for something utterly revolting when Steve-O is on the case. As soon as he appeared on screen on any particular episode of Jackass, you knew you were about to see something nasty. Now this guy has his own little video and I have to say that it's been a long time since I've let anything on a screen sicken me to the point where I actually retch. There's a point where he goes to some backwoods community type deal where it seems the locals favor the taste of rodents. I'm talking squirrelkebabs, stewed possum and other sordid entrees. It's hilarious to see him actually eat these things with a perplexed look on his face. You can literally break the scene down into levels just by the expressions on his face. It's easy to tell just what he's thinking when he takes a bite of squirrel. It's a lesson in mind over matter where the mind wins by TKO. And then the vomiting begins, to the point where the possibility of an internal rupture is very real. The rest involves him doing equally stupid things such as jumping off the top of a speeding car over the side of a suspended freeway into the ocean, setting his head on fire, diving off of hotel roofs into swimming pools, driving a car with the backseat full of ignited fireworks, ice skating on some really thin ice wearing only a tutu and a g-string and much more craziness than you'd probably care to see. And that's without having mentioned the other part of this video, "The Career Ender", which defies description. I don't recommend this to any kids because they're probably stupid enough to want to copy this guy. If you can watch something and suppress your urge to follow suit, then by all means go ahead and watch this. It's the perfect display of what certain individuals do when they have a little too much extra time on their hands. Nevertheless, it's never boring. Rating (based on shock value of course): **** out of *****.
