The look of the main antagonist Lord Tanarge (James Dukes) was ripped off from The Predator from the 1987 film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
At the end of (#1.3), both Scavenger teams failed to get back aboard Vulture. When it was filmed, the director John Rooney told the four contestants that they had timed out and were promised that John Leslie would give them a good obituary in the final scene.
"Scavengers" was mostly criticized for John Leslie's acting. John Leslie had no acting experience prior to "Scavengers" and was not a trained actor. John Leslie was not acting and very much played himself. In the opening narration, the narrator introduces John Leslie as "Commander John Leslie", but is credited as The Commander in the closing credits.
Perhaps, the most famous piece of dialogue in the whole show was when John Leslie said "Ever heard my dog impression?" before shooting an alien, then curtly responded "Woof, woof", not sounding like a dog at all.
"Scavengers" was created by Julian Grant. Whom had thought of an idea for a game show set in outer space, where contestants collected space trash in obstacle games aboard a dangerous abandoned alien spacecraft.
